A KitchenAid induction cooktop such as the KICU569XSS shows F6E4 when communication has been lost between the user interface, or keypad, and the user interface control. You touch a key and nothing happens, or the display freezes on the code. The cooktop asks for a power reset followed by one minute of monitoring. It reports the same condition as F6E0, so the checks are alike.
1. Switch every zone off. 2. Remove power at the breaker for a minute, then restore it. 3. Watch for a full minute to see if F6E4 remains clear. 4. If it comes back, leave the cooktop off and call us.
The keypad talks to the control through a cable and a connector. If either gets loose or the control fails, the link drops and the cooktop shows the code.
That pattern fits a marginal connection. Note when it fails, such as after cooking on high, and tell us. Heat and vibration often make a weak link worse.
It can briefly. If the code showed up once after an outage and a reset cleared it, you may never see it again. Repeats are a reason to book a visit.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
