Another control-side entry, F04 is shown by KitchenAid electric single, double and combination wall ovens such as the KOSE500ESS when the electronic oven control, or the associated wiring, may have a problem. It is similar to F03 in what it names. Owners notice the code and a limited ability to start bake, broil or timed cooking. The oven may go through the motions of starting and then quietly give up.
1. Press Cancel and wait a few seconds. 2. Switch the oven off at its breaker for a full minute, then back on. 3. Set the clock if the oven asks and try a brief bake. 4. If F04 repeats, turn the breaker off and call us; a burning smell or a blank display is another reason to leave it unpowered.
The control manages the keypad too. When it is in trouble, buttons can stop responding even though the display lights up. Since the control also reads the keypad, a struggling board can make buttons seem dead while the display still lights up.
The oven cavity and cooktop are separate in wall units, but the cavity control runs everything inside. Treat the oven as off until checked. Not safely: everything in the oven cavity depends on that control, so wait for the repair.
We schedule, diagnose, give a written price, and then repair with a 30-day warranty. Mention any recent power outage or kitchen renovation, since both can upset a control board.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
