On KitchenAid combination microwave-wall ovens like the KOCE900HSS, F4 E7 means the microwave meat probe, the meat probe receptacle, or the associated wiring may have a problem. It belongs to the upper microwave cavity. The display shows the code, and probe-based cooking may be unavailable until it is checked. Because a probe is a removable accessory, the probe itself is the easiest suspect, though the socket in the cavity wall and its wiring are named as well.
1. Cancel the cycle and unplug the probe from the cavity wall socket. 2. Inspect the probe and its cord for damage, and wipe the socket dry. 3. Reset the breaker for a minute. 4. Start a short cycle without the probe. If F4 E7 returns, call us.
It is a reasonable first thought because the probe is one listed cause. If the code remains with a new probe, or with the probe removed, the receptacle or wiring needs testing by a technician.
That depends on how the control reacts. If F4 E7 appears with no probe in use, the microwave may stay unavailable until the receptacle or wiring is repaired.
Moisture or residue in the receptacle can upset the connection. Wipe it dry with a soft cloth, but never poke inside it with metal, and call us if the code stays.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
