What F6 EA means

On KitchenAid electric single, double and combination wall ovens such as the KOSE500ESS or KOCE500ESS, F6 EA means the user interface control may be sensing an over temperature condition, or the wiring may have a problem. The panel area is reading too hot. The code appears on the display, and the oven may shut down for protection. Because it is a heat reading, give the oven a long cool-down before any reset and do not keep restarting it.

Common causes of F6 EA

  • User interface control sensing an over temperature condition
  • Wiring problem at the user interface control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool for at least thirty minutes. 2. Check that the area around the oven and its vents is clear. 3. Reset the breaker for a minute, then on. 4. Should F6 EA reappear, keep the oven off and phone us.

! Why to stop there
  • An over temperature reading is a protection signal and should not be ignored.
  • The cause may be the control or its wiring, and a technician can tell which.
  • You see a written price first, and our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F6 EAF6 EA questions
What does over temperature mean here?

The user interface control, the panel you operate, is sensing a high temperature condition. F6 EA is the oven telling you it sees heat at the panel that it does not like.

Should I wait for the oven to cool?

Yes, and for longer than usual. Give it thirty minutes or more, then try one reset. A repeat means the oven should stay off until it has been tested.

Could it be a wiring problem?

Yes. The code lists wiring along with the user interface control, so we test the connections as part of the visit and explain what we find before quoting.
