If F8 E1 appears on a KitchenAid double or combination wall oven such as the KODE500ESS, an airflow restriction, the lower oven cooling fan, or the associated wiring may have a problem. The lower cavity cannot cool itself properly. You will see the code, and the oven may stop heating. Because three causes are named, the airflow path is checked first, then the lower fan and its wiring.
1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool. 2. Clear the area around the lower oven's vents. 3. Turn the breaker off for a minute, then on. 4. If F8 E1 returns, stop using the lower oven and call us.
E1 names the lower oven cooling fan, while E0 names the upper one. Both also list airflow restriction and wiring, so the first check is the same for each.
Stop using the lower oven. It may be running without proper cooling, and the code is asking for the fan and airflow to be checked first.
We check airflow, the fan and its wiring on site, explain the result in plain words, and quote the repair in writing before any part is replaced.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
