KitchenAid induction cooktops in the KCIG550JSS and KICU569XSS family report E92 as part of the same power-reset group. The cooktop wants to cool, then to be powered off and on, and then to be watched for one minute. If the code does not come back, the cooktop is operating normally again. A repeating E92 leaves you without heat. In practice you simply see a cooktop that will not start any zone.
1. Turn off every zone and let the glass and electronics cool. 2. Flip the cooktop breaker off for one minute and back on. 3. Keep an eye on the display for a full minute. 4. If E92 comes back, stop and book a visit with us.
A single reset is reasonable. Doing it repeatedly masks a developing problem and can stress the electronics. If the code returns after one clean reset, it is time for a technician.
It confirms the reset worked. If E92 holds off for that minute, the cooktop recovered. If it reappears during that window, the cause is still there.
Pans themselves do not usually cause it, but a pan left heating during a code can add heat. Remove cookware, let everything cool, and test with a pan only after the reset.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
