What F2 means

On KitchenAid electric single, double and combination wall ovens such as the KOSE507ESS, F2 means the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the associated wiring may have a problem. The temperature reading is suspect, so the oven may fail to preheat or may stop mid-cycle. A separate steam oven page also uses F2, but this entry is for the wall oven. A steam oven also lists an F2, but this page is about the standard wall oven.

Common causes of F2

  • Oven temperature sensor drifting or open
  • Control board misreading the sensor
  • Sensor wiring damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Let the oven cool fully. 2. Press Cancel, then cycle the breaker off for a minute. 3. Start a bake at 350 F and watch for F2 over the first ten minutes. 4. If the code returns, stop and call us. Avoid touching the sensor probe in the cavity.

! Why to stop there
  • The sensor probe is delicate.
  • Control and sensor problems produce identical codes.
  • Meter checks are needed.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F2F2 questions
Is F2 the same as F1 and F01?

They share the sensor, control and wiring meaning in the published list. Each is a separate entry, but we diagnose them the same way. Each is its own entry, handled alike because the sensor, control and wiring are the suspects every time.

Why would the oven start but stop?

A sensor can read within range at first and drift out of range once hot. The control then shuts the cycle down and shows F2. That pattern fits a worn sensor, so repeat occurrences deserve a technician's resistance check.

What do you offer?

A written price before work and a 30-day warranty. The sensor probe inside the cavity is delicate and easily bent, so leave it to us.
