What F6 E5 means

On KitchenAid electric single, double and combination wall ovens such as the KOSE500ESS or KOCE500ESS, F6 E5 points to the control panel assembly, or the wiring connected to it. This is the panel and electronics you use to set the oven. You may see the code, a frozen keypad, or a display that does not respond properly. Because the panel and its wiring are named, the repair starts with testing both of them.

Common causes of F6 E5

  • Control panel assembly failing
  • Wiring or ribbon connection to the panel damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and wipe the panel with a barely damp cloth, then dry it. 2. Switch the breaker off for a minute and on again. 3. Check whether the keypad responds and a short bake starts. 4. If F6 E5 returns, leave the oven off and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The panel and its wiring are bonded into the oven front.
  • Moisture on a panel is not something to chase with a spray.
  • You approve a written price first, and our repair is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F6 E5F6 E5 questions
Is the control panel assembly just the keypad?

It is the whole assembly you operate, including its electronics. F6 E5 says that assembly, or the wiring to it, may have a problem, so a test of both is needed.

Can spills cause this?

Keeping the panel clean is good practice, but the code itself names the assembly and wiring. A repeat after cleaning means testing is needed, and we can do that on site.

Can I still use a cycle already set?

Do not rely on it. A panel that is reporting a problem may not let you cancel properly, so use the breaker if you need to stop the oven.
