On KitchenAid French door bottom-freezer refrigerators (KRFC, KRMF, KRFF) and side-by-side models (KRSF, KRSC) such as the KRFC704FPS and KRSF705HPS, the air filter light tracks the status of the FreshFlow air filter. The icon moves through stages: Good, Order, Replace and Expired. After a new filter goes in, the status has to be reset by hand. Owners see the light stuck on Replace or Expired even with a fresh filter fitted.
1. Check which stage the icon shows: Good, Order, Replace or Expired. 2. If the filter is due, fit a new FreshFlow air filter. 3. Press and hold the AIR FILTER button for 3 seconds to reset the status. 4. Confirm the icon returns to Good. 5. If the icon will not reset after a new filter, call us.
They are the status of the FreshFlow air filter, from healthy to due for ordering, due for replacing and past its life. Replace the filter when the icon reaches Replace or Expired.
After installing the new filter, press and hold the AIR FILTER button for 3 seconds. The status does not reset itself, so skipping this step leaves the old stage showing.
Confirm the filter is seated and hold the button the full 3 seconds. If the stage still does not return to Good, call us and we will look at the control with a written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
