On KitchenAid French door bottom-freezer refrigerators (KRFC, KRMF, KRFF) and side-by-side models (KRSF, KRSC) such as the KRFC704FPS and KRSF705HPS, the H2O light reports water filter status. The filter should be replaced every 6 months or when the light comes on; on side-by-sides, when it turns red or the water flow and ice drop. After a new filter is installed, the status is reset by holding LIGHT and ICE TYPE for 3 seconds.
1. Note whether the H2O light is on or red. 2. Replace the water filter if it has been about 6 months or flow and ice have dropped. 3. Hold LIGHT and ICE TYPE together for 3 seconds to reset the status. 4. Run a few glasses of water through the dispenser. 5. If the light stays on after a new filter and reset, call us.
It is the water filter status indicator. It comes on when the filter is due to be replaced, which is about every 6 months or when the light comes on.
After fitting a new filter, hold LIGHT and ICE TYPE together for 3 seconds. The reminder does not clear itself, so it will stay lit if the reset is skipped.
On side-by-side models, a light that turns red or a drop in water flow and ice points to the filter needing replacement. Change it and reset the light, then watch the ice output.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
