On KitchenAid built-in refrigerators (KBSD, KBFN, KBBL, KBBR) such as the KBSD608ESS and KBBL306ESS, the Over Temperature light comes on when the refrigerator section rises above 48°F (9°C) or the freezer above 15°F (-9°C) for longer than 1 1/2 hours. The alert repeats every 1 1/2 hours until the temperatures fall, and it is cleared with Over Temperature Reset. If the reset light itself blinks, cycle the power.
1. Check that every door and the freezer drawer are fully closed. 2. Press Over Temperature Reset to clear the alert. 3. If the reset light blinks, switch the power off at the breaker, wait, and turn it back on. 4. Keep doors closed while the unit recovers. 5. If the light returns, move perishables to another cold place and call us.
It triggers when the refrigerator goes above 48°F (9°C) or the freezer above 15°F (-9°C) for longer than 1 1/2 hours. Shorter warm spells, such as a quick door opening, do not set it off.
Press Over Temperature Reset once the cabinet has recovered. If the reset light itself blinks, cut power briefly and restore it. The alert reactivates every 1 1/2 hours if the temperatures stay high.
Check temperatures before eating anything that stayed warm. If the light keeps coming back, move food to another refrigerator and call us so we can find out why the cabinet is warm.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
