On KitchenAid built-in refrigerators (KBSD, KBFN, KBBL, KBBR) and French door bottom-freezer models (KRFC, KRMF, KRFF), such as the KBSD608ESS and KRFC704FPS, the Over Temperature feature raises a Temperature Alarm when the refrigerator rises above 48°F (9°C) or the freezer above 15°F (-9°C) for longer than 1 1/2 hours. The sound stops once temperatures recover, and the light flashes until Alarm is pressed.
1. Close all doors and the freezer drawer completely. 2. Rearrange items so air vents are not blocked. 3. Wait for the temperatures to recover; the sound stops on its own. 4. Press Alarm to stop the flashing light. 5. If the alarm returns, move perishables to a cold spot and call us.
When the refrigerator climbs above 48°F (9°C) or the freezer above 15°F (-9°C) for more than 1 1/2 hours. It is meant to warn you before food is at risk.
The audible alert stops when temperatures recover, but the light keeps flashing until you press Alarm. Pressing it acknowledges the event. Press it once the cabinet is back to normal.
Not necessarily. If a door was open or the load was warm, the cabinet will recover. Call us if the alarm repeats or the temperatures do not come back down.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
