KitchenAid KODT100E Oven Service

The KODT100E is a built-in wall oven, also sold as the KODT100ESS, and it is no longer made. Most are still working in the original cabinet cutout, so a repair is often cheaper than reworking the cabinetry for a new unit.
Two things age this oven. The bake and broil elements wear out, and you can usually see a break or a blistered patch on the element itself. The other is the door: hinges loosen, heat leaks past the top edge, and the cavity stops matching the temperature you set, even with a healthy sensor.
We check the elements first because that takes a few minutes, then compare the real cavity temperature with the sensor reading, then inspect the hinges and the lock motor. A written price comes before any work begins, and our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
No. A latched door after self-clean is normally the lock motor or its switch sticking. We free the latch, test the motor, and replace the part that failed. The door and cavity are not damaged.
We place a thermometer in the cavity and compare it with the set temperature. If the readings drift evenly, the sensor is suspect. If the top of the door runs hot, the hinges are letting heat escape.
Often yes. Elements, sensors, hinges and lock parts for this oven are common replacements, and you keep the existing cutout. We quote the exact repair in writing so you can compare it with replacement.
