KitchenAid KOST100E Double Oven Service

KitchenAid wall oven

Most common issues on this model

  1. Heat damage at the rear terminal block and its wiring
  2. Hardened or torn door seal, so the front runs hot
  3. Latch mechanism seized by grease and heat
  4. One cavity heats normally while the other does not come up to temperature

The KOST100E, also sold as the KOST100ESS, is a double wall oven that is no longer made. Installed in a wall cabinet, it gets hours of use around the holidays, and that heat is hard on the wiring behind it.

We pay attention to the rear terminal block on this oven. Years of heat can discolor the block and the wires on it, which causes intermittent power loss or a cavity that heats poorly. If one cavity underperforms and the other is fine, we treat it as a single-cavity problem and begin with that cavity’s own element, sensor and wiring rather than the whole control.

The front of the oven gets checked too: a hard or torn seal, and a latch seized by grease. You receive a written price before work starts, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.

KOST100EKOST100E questions
Why would a KOST100E lose power to one cavity only?

The cavities share a terminal block but have separate elements and relays. Heat damage on a terminal or a failed element can drop one cavity. We inspect the block first, then test the element.

Is a scorched wire on my KOST100E dangerous?

Yes, discolored or brittle wiring can arc. Turn the oven off at the breaker and call us. We replace the terminal block and damaged wire, and then confirm the connections are tight.

My KOST100E front gets very hot. Is that the seal?

Most often, yes. A seal that has hardened or torn lets heat escape. We also check the hinges and latch so the door closes tightly before we finish the repair.
