On KitchenAid French door bottom-freezer refrigerators (KRFC, KRMF, KRFF) and side-by-side models (KRSF, KRSC) such as the KRFC704FPS and KRSF705HPS, the Door Alarm light comes on when a door or the freezer drawer stays open for 2 to 5 minutes with cooling on. The alarm then repeats every 2 minutes. Owners find it after loading groceries, when something is wedged against a door or the cabinet is not level.
1. Shut all doors and slide the freezer drawer fully closed. 2. Check bins and shelves for anything sticking out past the door line. 3. Look at the leveling and make sure the doors swing closed on their own. 4. Wipe the door seals if they are dirty. 5. If the light stays on with everything closed, call us.
A door or the freezer drawer being open for 2 to 5 minutes while cooling is on. After the first alert it repeats every 2 minutes until the opening is closed.
Items blocking the door or a refrigerator that is not level are the usual reasons. Clear the bins and check leveling so the doors close fully and the light goes out.
The light itself is only an alert, but an open door lets warm air in. Close it promptly and food stays protected. If it will not go out when closed, call us.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
